Glory of the name Ram

  • The 3 letters R A M are the source of Agni, Surya and Chandrama
  • R & M are equivalent to Jeevatma and Brahma
  • R & M are equivalent to Rama and Lakshman
  • R & M are equivalent to Krishna and Balarama

Dasharatha

Dasharatha means the one who rides a chariot driven by 10 horses. The 10 horses are symbolic of 5 organs of "Perception" (ज्ञानेन्द्रिय) and 5 organs of "Action" (कर्मेन्द्रिय).

Dasharatha also signifies that his chariot could move in all 10 directions North, South, East, West, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West, Up and Down.


The 3 Queens

The three queens of Dasharatha -> Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi are symbolic of 3 qualities of Satvaguna, Rajoguna and Tamoguna. The 3 queens are also symbolic of Gyana, Bhakti and Seva.


The 4 Sons

The four sons of Dasharatha represent the 4 Vedas.
Ram - "RIG VEDA"
Bharat - "SAAMA VEDA"
Lakshman - "YAJUR VEDA"
Shatrughna - "ATHARVA VEDA"
